The story of Noah/Utnapishtim comes to mind.
Most cultures tell of the great floods like an old, drunk, fisherman on year 20 of his biggest-fish-I-ever tale; omnicide, god babble, magic, rape, tales beyond knowing. My ancestors had sensible advice on where to go when that flood inevitably happens again.
I checked the prediction maps against a full melt, and they were right. Imma just go there, but y’all have fun.
