IMO Iranian fucking us up would’ve entailed them sinking a carrier. Running away because of malfunctions and logistics failures is us fucking ourselves up, and is even more pathetic and embarrassing.
The reason the carrier is fleeing is that all resupply bases in the region have been destroyed or rendered useless by Iranian attacks. They achieved both the immediate tactical goal of the carrier not enabling bombing runs anymore, and a long-term strategic goal of fucking up US logistics in the region for a while, without wasting extra missiles on sinking the carrier itself.
