minus-square1985MustangCobra@lemmy.calinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up1·7 days agobasically the ACPI drivers for the laptop are fine tuned by the OEM with microsoft, unless the laptop ships with linux where the OEM has similar or 1:1 life as windows. dell for awhile (dunno if they still do) were shipping laptops with ubuntu.
What actually is the explanation for this? I’ve done the same on 2 old laptops, overall love using Linux but the battery life is like…halved.
