He got in trouble for obtaining proof of her cheating, without which he may not have won the settlement that he won.

There are other ways to catch cheating that don’t involve illegally recording someone without their consent.

The fact that people in here are trying to justify crimes against this woman is wild. Cheating doesn’t strip away your rights or give permission for a spouse to abuse the other for cheating.

I’m not disagreeing with you or justifying his actions. Just presenting the other side of the argument.

I’m curious though. How would you propose he catch her cheating, including proof beyond reasonable doubt, that would guarantee a similar settlement or better?

In the end, he got a nice settlement, but had to pay back a little less than a 3rd of it back for the recording. Sounds mostly fair, though I’d make it maybe a 5th or less instead of a 3rd.

If there is a start recording button there is a stop recording button, he could have tried to avoid filming during sex perhaps. Maybe there are other camera’s in the house, or a video doorbell… but generally I agree on this: it will be his word against her without any proof, the proof won’t be proof when they’re just in the same house at the same time. What’s also weird if he would have entered the house and caught them having sex he wouldn’t have invaded her privacy. If I were him i’d be upset I had to pay money but relieved to be receiving some and if i were her i’d be upset I had to pay money but relieved it could’ve been worse.

Please explain how you’d feel after the partner you are married to cheats on you, then sends you to jail for several months.

Christ, Lemmy really is going downhill. Someone is making an argument of fact, and you’re making an argument on emotions.

These are clearly not the same thing, yet you’re still here making bad faith arguments.

yeah, cheating isn’t abuse that leads to long term psychological damage, go cheating lady, that’s E M P O W E R M E N T! Go get them gals! No one can get evidence of you abusing a partner mentally, giving them trust problems for decades, since you’re fucking someone, and that’s fantastic!

Now I’m pushing back on your assertion that abuse is justified when there’s cheating. You leave the relationship, you don’t get permission to abuse your spouse.

That doesn’t allow me to start recording them having sex without consent, same as it doesn’t allow me to hit them just because I’m angry.

Because I don’t think someone should be given free reign to break laws and abuse his spouse because they were caught cheating?

Is he allowed to tie her up and torture her, too? Post those videos online? Rape her?
