    I hate having subtitles when I don’t want them. My eyes keep being drawn to reading them and it’s very distracting when you want to concentrate on the content itself.

      Yeah, I think there is a misunderstanding.

      You are probably talking about hard-subs or full subtitles that are enabled by default.

      “Forced subtitles” specifically refers to subtitle that translate only non-default language or signs (like when someone speaks Spanish in an English movie).

          Can you elaborate on why for the later?

          If you’re watching a movie in English and the bad guys are suddenly speaking a few lines of Russian to each other, why would you not want subtitles for that? Or if the movie shows a sign in a foreign language? It’s often integral to the plot to have that information.

            The key is “forced”. I want to be able to choose.

        Not in my experience.

        Forced Subs are just that - substantial are always forced on.

        Now which ones are forced on depends in the video and player.
