      Right? Why do they even make fake ones like these? It messes with history. I mean, this particular example might not be a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but if there were thousands of these made and a history in the future wanted to make a documentation about 90s gaming advertisements, they’d have to sift through a bunch of fakes.

        back in the day forging some historical material used to be a research exercise for history students. we had that kind of thing for the press and we had to study how things are written (that was the whole point) and then replicate it using these insights - barely anyone ever got a good grade for these things because it is way harder to do than it seems like - even something from 10 years ago linguistically is another world and something form 1920s or 1930s (or earlier) is straight up parallel universe.
