The fact that a queer dating app collapsing in Dallas at the onset of the Republican convention there was not lost on critics on X.“Of course ... of course,” posted podcaster Wajahat Ali.Downdetecter, which logs and maps user problems on websites recorded the collapse of the dating and hook-up servi...
See I would assume we would see reports of grindr going down for things like DragonCon in Atlanta during such events, but whenever I search for them I don’t find them. Wouldn’t the groups coming to run those events be similar? I would have expected more queer people there to be honest.
One would expect a lot more hooking up to be happening in person for Dragoncon, no? Why would you bother using Grindr for what is essentially a love in? It’s precisely the repressive environment that leads to the overuse of anonymous hookup apps. That would be my hypothesis, anyway.
What does essentially a love in mean? Thinking I am just not hip that terminology as of yet. Maybe it’s because my age but I would have figured that apps were great tools when at cons.
Love-in is an old hippy term afaik, basically a softer way of saying an orgy.
Which loops back around to ‘self-reported anonymous data on the Internet isn’t reliable’. Either Atlanta has better infrastructure and no down time happened (honestly possible) or the people there didn’t bother reporting it to DownDetector.
