Verbal memes count? I still say “I am Audi 5000” or “Peace in the Middle East ✌️” when I am leaving. The latter being pretty sad that it is still relevant today from the day I stated using it.

Ohhh is that because the Audi 5000, unlike the European version (Audi 100) had “unintended acceleration” as a feature? Which actually turned out to be that the pedals were closer to each other than some Americans were accustomed to, so in some super rare cases it would accelerate while the driver thought they were hitting the brakes? And then 60 minutes “demonstrated” it with a rigged car and it took decades for Americans to trust Audi again.

I had no idea that this was the actual origin of the terms but yes, I just looked it up, it was due to the unintended acceleration of the Audi 5000 is why its associated with leaving quickly, because that is what this vehicle did.

no for leaving, like you are leaving a place and you say “I’m Audi 5000” to the people there instead of saying Good Bye.

This is old because the Audi 5000 first gen was introduced in the 1970s. Its surviving because I just said it like 3 days ago. It lives on in me 🥹

WAIT A MINUTE!!! THAT’S WHAT EMINEM SAYS IN THAT RAP. At the end. fuck this battle, I don’t wanna win, I’m Audi. Here, tell these people something they don’t know about me. (mic drop)

Ever since I watched 8Mile when it came out I thought, not being a native English speaker, that he was saying “outty” or something xD

Edit: he doesn’t drop the mic I think… Maybe he throws it to that papa something
