Which actually turned out to be that the pedals were closer to each other than some Americans were accustomed to, so in some super rare cases it would accelerate while the driver thought they were hitting the brakes? I had no idea that this was the actual origin of the terms but yes, I just looked it up, it was due to the unintended acceleration of the Audi 5000 is why its associated with leaving quickly, because that is what this vehicle did.
