Ms Grover, the founder of women-only app Giggle, was sued by transgender woman Roxanne Tickle after Ms Tickle was barred from the platform in 2021.

The Federal Court initially found that Giggle had engaged in unlawful indirect discrimination, ruling that the female-only policy imposed a condition or requirement that had a disproportionate impact on transgender women and was therefore unlawful.

Ms Grover and her company appealed the decision, which was met with a cross-appeal from Ms Tickle, resulting in the Full Federal Court ultimately finding that Ms Grover had directly discriminated against Ms Tickle.
