I’ve been posting things that Ethan Klein (host of the H3H3 Podcast) has said and done into the H3H3 Podcast community and the mod decided that relevant content wasn’t good enough to participate.
I’ll take my community ban and won’t fight it, but it’s the very definition of petty mod behavior.

This was the comment that got me banned:
I clearly know enough about Ethan Klein and the H3H3 Podcast to be a participant in some form.
If what I’m posting is the truth, why is it such a problem to post it here? Doesn’t Ethan stand by what he says and does?

Wow so now my inbox is getting brigaded because you came into a community about a podcast to shit post about the host. You can not like ethan, that’s fine. You can criticize the content of the podcast (especially current episodes, not a cherry picking of stuff from half a decade ago), that’s fine. But I asked you politely for days to find another place for personal criticism of a person instead of cherry-picking specifically aligned talking points, and you did the cowardly “I’m just posting things he said, what’s wrong with things he said?” You don’t participate in the podcast, you’re coming in overlapping with a crowd that HAS crossed from criticism to harassment, and I’m squashing it before it spirals. If you hate the podcast, block the community and go about your day. Don’t go crying about it and spreading my name to people who think they’re freedom fighters by spamming my inbox.
That’s the comment I hit the ban button about, but the entire thread is the evidence. Which is posted in the ban message. You have selective attention to try to farm outrage, it colors what you say and what you hear, and I think you follow a pattern that is actively participating in the decline of discourse, where you pick a side then selectively use things to just reinforce your incorrect points.
Edit: Providing context, I assumed people would follow the link in the posted ban message: https://lemmy.world/post/51982261
Hey, I’m just doing what you told me to do.
Clearly that is not fine.
Like Ethan did with Macklemore?
You don’t know that.
Where am I harassing anyone by posting in the community?
I’m blocking you because this is absurd, and thanks for linking my account so I could get a “KYS Power tripper” message in my inbox which I reported. This is the mentality that gets CPS called to harass kids, and has skulls sent to houses.
Got a screenshot of that or are we just taking your word that it happened?
Oh that’s gold. Wow Velma, didn’t know you were like that. Where’s my death threat?
I didn’t send a death threat and I resent being labelled as such.
Sounds more like a call to action than a death threat, not that it matters much
This user is stalking me and blaming me for @[email protected] getting a “KYS” message.
Oh well, that’s too bad. People really shouldn’t make assumptions like that.
The irony whistled right over Velmas head
Velma didn’t do it; I get a lot of drive-by hate just for liking the H3 podcast, but the post here linking to my account caused someone else to send it. I get like 4-5 of them a week, usually “I’m a baby killer” or “I murder Palestenian babies” or whatever. The one today just linked here.
I guess Ethan is a Zionist? I’m not plugged into the YouTube creator/influencer world but I have a vague idea of who he is
Yes.
He’s said he thinks what Israel is doing is a genocide, and he thinks west bank settlers are valid military targets. He has actually voted against Bibi as a dual Israeli citizen.
That being said, he’s Jewish, his wife grew up in Israel including mandatory IDF service, and he was upset at Hamas after the October 7 attacks which directly impacted his family, so to the “leftist” community he’s a zionist, pedophile, baby killer, yadda yadda. It’s proof that the internet has lost the ability to appreciate complex nuanced takes, especially around Jewish people.
If my points are incorrect, feel free to correct them. You said yourself that what I was saying wasn’t untrue:
For the record, the main link in the post leads to the full discussion. I don’t think additional context is helping you out here.
