We had a family gathering to celebrate a Birthday last weekend.
The usual: having barbecue, hanging around, eating cake.
I became really bored in the afternoon and my increasingly sluggish body clearly desired a little walk.
But I didn’t like to walk alone, so I tried to get my son to join me, but he thought that idea to be even duller than hanging around in the garden.
So I half jokingly suggested that we might look out for mushrooms to have something more interesting for dinner than just barbecue leftovers.
He was instantly convinced and I was happy to have a walking partner.
But little did I know what had happened in the woods overnight…
Turned out, we not only secured dinner, but next day’s lunch on top of it!

At least two types of them are pretty sure edible and tasty.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macrolepiota_procera (I think)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sparassis_crispa (quite sure)
From the intro in the first article
Correct.
I like especially the cauliflower fungus, although they sometimes are a pain i the ass to clean.
The other ones are “Hexenröhrlinge” (no idea what the English name is…), which are not great, but ok.
Those look like what we would call “Cracked-cap boletes” in English or Xerocomellus sp. in Latin.
We’ve recently found some cauliflower fungi, it was delicious.
We like going on walks and taking pictures of anything nature related. There’s an app called Obsidenfy which allows you to ID almost anything I’m from nature. It’s a really good way to get my son and his friends into nature and learn more.
We also have 6 logs which I inoculated earlier in the year with oyster and shiitake spores. I’m hoping they are ready to fruit by the autumn.
