You can certainly feel that should be the case, and it’s a fine argument for atheistm, but that’s clearly not how it works in practice. Otherwise there wouldn’t be three religions sharing the same God (Judaism, Christianity and Islam), each in multiple variants. And they all agree that God flooded the earth, before basically going “Eh, that was a bit much, I promise not to do that again”.
