One of the best available interventions is mandatory cooking classes in high school. Cut the necessary time out of other classes and do it.
I had that in high school, no one cared, no one learned to cook there. In hindsight pretty dumb, but it is high school after all. If you don’t want to learn, you don’t. I just always liked cooking and the internet made it really easy to learn. But most of my friends don’t cook at all. For them cooking is heating up chicken nuggets and spaghetty sauce out of a can.
Mainly what you learn is that it’s not this big scary impossible thing.
