I get the hatred for AI. I hate how I’m expected to be some sort of AI detective before even thinking about posting stuff on the Internet even more though.
I’m not debating that this is AI. If you say it is, I believe you. I’m just more annoyed that someone went through the effort to make the original post in AI and that the onus seems to be on me to make sure everything I post isnt AI.
Back in the stone age of the internet, it was largely up to the reader to decide if something was bullshit or not. More Importantly, we didn’t take shitposts seriously at all.
Hey, you don’t have to be the super AI detective. You saw something funny and you posted it. However, other people have seen posts by this dude before and they know that it’s AI fiction, so it’s also perfectly reasonable for them to comment as such. That’s discourse.
You’re right, it is discourse, but it is also tiring to hear. If the discussion evolved into something interesting, like the larger impact of AI on society, I’d be right in there, but instead it just ends up being a dog whistle, and then the anti-AI bros show up with nothing new to say.
Again, not against the discourse or discussion, and I’m not a big proponent of AI, it’s just like the "here’s the thing… or 5/7 with rice or banana for scale memes that used to show up everywhere, and you can’t seem to get away from. It doesn’t generally add to the post or the conversations around it.
Maybe I just need to relax a bit and up my dose of metamucill, and go back to glowering out my window at the kids that ride their bikes across my lawn, though.
