An assailant opened fire and injured 11 students near a high school in Turkey on Tuesday, Turkish officials said, shaking the country months after back-to-back school shootings.
The attack injured students on a street outside the school, in Turgutlu, in the Manisa province in southwestern Turkey, near Izmir, according to Turkish officials.
The Turkish authorities did not identify the assailant. Turkey’s health minister, Kemal Memisoglu, said that the 11 injured people had been hospitalized.
Video released by Turkish officials and verified by The New York Times shows a person dressed in black walking along the street with a long gun and looking over a shoulder. Seconds later, the person runs back along the same route, still holding the gun.
