There actually is UX research behind the rounded corner phenomenon. They make people feel like the interface is easier to use, and that feeling actually leads to a feedback loop where people experience less stress, cognitive load, and genuinely have an easier time using the interface.

No offer of scale, methodology, funding source, sampling parameters? This isn’t a very serious conversation, but fwiw ux research is very often crafted with bias towards a specific end.
