This is going to be a marathon. Not a sprint. It’ll take multiple years and many Lemmy improvements to kill Reddit.

What we can do however is raise awareness and even if things are slow and from time to time we have to use reddit for whatever reason, we might want to foster a soft pledge, commitment or intention of not posting any new content on reddit.

It does not matter if Reddit has millions of users if the actual content creators and skilled moderators are dropping off.

    you put it perfectly. the reason we’re seeing all these social medias implode is they’re companies; feddiverse isn’t motivated in the same way. I am nervous to be so optimistic but I really think we can pull through in the long run

      Yea same. I hate being overly optimistic, but it’s hard to ignore that I genuinely feel good about this. This is really my first foray into being apart of a social movement like this in my adulthood. It’s new to me. I think healthy optimism is good. It’s what we make it. It’s only as good as the effort we put in, just like our own lives, and i can live with that all day.
