Welcome to Auvensberg!
A small village sits nestled into a low valley. A number of small houses dot the area with chimney’s of white smoke. The main thoroughfare, The Kings Road, cuts through the middle of the town going east to west. A large well kept cottage overlooks the town from the south. This is the lord’s manor. The local tavern and inn, Hogswash, sits in the center of town just off the road. Small stables with a few pack animals milling about inside stands nearby. Across the well worn dirt road sits another large building, this is the local blacksmith who works tirelessly day an night.
The village is mostly surrounded by rolling hills. To the northeast a large forest encroaches on the fields near the edge of town. A small path leads off into the forest. Southwards the hills grow and grow eventually turning into mountains far off into the distance. East the Kings road meanders lazily through rolling hills and grassland. Some boulders and sparse trees dot the horizon. Westward the road comes to a small bridge just outside of the village that crosses a stream and continues on into the sunset. Across the bridge next to the road is a parcel of land surrounded by a low stone wall. Standing stones are situated haphazardly spread within enclosure. The stream flows from rocky crags in the south and cuts northward gently curving around the outskirts of the village and eventually heads off towards the forest.
Fantasy World Elements
- magic is just beginning to be studied in earnest in the learning centers of the world
- magic is common. The world is magical but outside of cities its just seen as folklore and fairytales
- the world is ~60% explored. There are large established factions but also lots of untamed wilderness and ‘here be dragons’. Islands of varying order in a chaotic natural world
- the world is ancient with scattered ruins, lost civilizations and kingdoms built on the ashes of long past nations
- outside of settlements and away from the King’s road travel is hard and dangerous. Adventure lies around every corner
- I’m defaulting to Forgotten Realms lore but will change whatever makes sense to me

“Kigur, I suggest we head to the mines right away. I do my best work at night. Let’s be careful in our approach, we don’t want to give ourselves away.”
Give me stealth roll and nature or survival roll for navigating in the dark
[OOC] I don’t mind you rolling for me. Will streamline gameplay so you don’t need to tell me what to roll and I don’t need to tell you the result to progress the game.
Kigur slips off his rusty chainmail and carefully packs it away.
Kigur plans to stay about 30 ft. behind Loaf, tailing him.
Roll
Dexterity (Stealth): 6 + 2 = 8
[OOC] smart the ol’ rogue on a 30ft pole schtick. Also can you add your char attributes to your character sheet pls?
Loaf is clearly skilled in wilderness navigation and has no problem finding the old mine off the King’s road. The forest creeps closer to the road the further away from town you get. You find the entrance to the mine a ways off the road down a steep slope in a small clearing amongst a rocky outcropping. The mine entrance is hidden from above atop the slope but reveals as you get closer. The mine has clearly been abandoned for some time with unmaintained rails and carts near the entrance. A few piles of rock an debris lay about the entrance.
Loaf pauses at the edge of the clearing with Kigur still 30ft back.
Loaf looks about to see if there are any goblins. If there are none, he motions to Kigur to follow him as he creeps towards the entrance.
Perception rolled 11 (-1 wis) = 10
You don’t see any goblins or anything untoward outside the mine.
Seeing Loaf’s gesture, Kigur closes the gap a bit, narrowing to 15 ft. behind Loaf. He keeps an eye out for anything lying in wait on either side.
Rolls
Dex (Stealth): Nat 20 Wis (Perception): 10 + 0 = 10
[OOC] Were you asking for my attributes? If so, they are on the Core Attr/Skills sheet. I had it labeled Stats instead of Attr before. I’ve got it configured to flag stealth disadvantage based on armor equipped status. A value in the Proficiency column means I have proficiency and it is incorporated into my modifier. It’s a 1 because if I got expertise that would show a 2.
[OOC] oh I didn’t see the tabs! Nice ok
Kigur approaches well hidden but also doesn’t see any danger near the entrance
[OOC] Ok! Don’t wanna deprive you of getting to roll dice. I think thats one of the more fun things in dnd but to each their own.
I rolled shitty on stealth 4 (-1 with your dex) = 3 For nature/survival doesn’t matter you have same mod for int and wis 18 (-1) = 17
[OOC] I just realized now you’re a rogue with shitty dex lol what? Is that on purpose?
[OOC] Yeah my character is a delusional rogue haha. He’s built as a fighter but wants to be a rogue. He usually bungles things but manages to get by on charisma.
