same question as here: https://fitness.stackexchange.com/questions/46328/washing-athletic-wear
Is washing powder safe for undearmour clothing? Else what would be some alternatives?
I tried the vinegar approach but it wasn’t working out for me. I guess maybe I can try the baking soda one
Room temperature water? No washing powder? I’m not familiar with underarmour but it sounds like you’re just rinsing it instead of washing it.
Fwiw I wash mine at 60°C, as it kills the bacteria.
Washing powder is just dry laundry detergent.
Any detergent/soap should theoretically kill bacteria even using cold water. It destroys the cell membrane.
Sadly for whatever reason it doesn’t (google confirmed this)
Welp that’s a bit of a rabbit hole i didn’t expect to go down today lol
Washing at 60° C is only really required for people with a compromised immune system or in a household with certain infectuous diseases, which may spread through clothing or other textiles. The bacteria on clothing are not usually pathogenic to the degree that a 60° C wash is necessary. For whites, bleaching is also an alternative.
