My child is 6. I have them do 10-20 min of guided reading daily, meaning I sit with them and help where needed. They read mostly on their own though. I started because school was basically not teaching anything and giving half assed explanations why not.
How much do you do? Wondering if I’m an asshole parent 😅
He is one… so not much.
I started reading to mine at about 4 months, and 1 is definitely old enough to read to. I was asking my one year old questions about the book and the pictures like “can you find the kitty?” and he showed me just how many words he understood and what he knew from that. It’s so important for them to hear language and be communicated with, even if they don’t have the control to speak themselves yet.
