Netflix Inc. has seen a decline in user engagement, with customers opening the app less frequently than before. The subtitles are too distracting. They ruin the experience.
Do you read many books in English? I don’t even notice they are on the screen.
However what i do find distracting is when the dubbing into English and the subtitles don’t match, or the subtitles are out of time with the speech.
Is 200+ books a year a lot? If so, yes. I notice them because they are covering part of the picture.
My laptop is 4:3 so I don’t have that problem. Also there is a VLC trick (menu) -> Settings -> (Show All) -> Video (open fold) -> Filters (open fold) -> Cropadd -> Add 75px to the bottom.
Basically I’m recommending not to throw out half a world of culture just because of subtitles.
How does that help with Netflix on my TV?
There’s still plenty of content to watch left, so no need for any of that anyway.
