Trucks are more common here because I live in the southern US region, so you’ll always find more of vehicles designed for easier driving in rural areas with rough roads, not to mention the large prevalence of construction jobs here. That said, I drive on the interstate an hour and a half one way to work, and the ratio of trucks and SUVs to other types of cars is much higher than I’d think is necessary.
