Back in DnD 3.0 I remember a bow’s attack roll was modified by dexterity but the dmg roll was strength (and only if your bow was reinforced to allow that). Was more realistic but some people would say it was much less fun too
In my experience it encouraged people to buy either Hank’s Energy Bow or a Bow of the Winter Moon as soon as they could afford it and never worry about how strong their bow could be again.
