It’s easy to get along with most people around a campfire, just tossing it out there.

Hmm, good question. I guess because love wins

In this house we don’t tolerate intolerance, since history shows that sadly love does not in fact, win. Not against systems like capitalism or white supremacy or patriarchy.

If the love in question takes the form of enabling, then you’re absolutely right. And laughing with or even quietly tolerating racist jokes is plainly enabling behavior.

The only reason that comes to mind is collective action/organizing. If you can find common ground in a social, economic, or political issue with another group, can align yourself with that group only in regards to that issue, and can in that way make progress on that issue… then do it.

You don’t need to agree with people you’re organizing with on anything but the thing you’re organizing about.

That said, if I found myself agreeing with a proud bigot on anything at all, my first step would be a thorough recheck of my stance, its implications, and how I came to it in the first place.

That’s class redutionist bullshit that puts your marginalised comrades at risk if not directly in harms way

Because it’s a lot easier to educate people you get along with than to antagonize them and hope that they spontaneously come around to a point of view that you just made them associate with being rude. The association doesn’t have to be true to be harmful, as is proven by the fact that they were already bigots to begin with.

it’s a lot easier to educate people

Expecting marginalised people to educate bigots is the hight of privilege

          than to antagonize them

You’re telling on yourself if you consider those who stand up to bigots to be the antagonisers.

a point of view that you just made them associate with being rude.

Fuck off with this tone policing bullshit - it’s nothing but an ex use to avoid accountability
