I can’t wait to build my own starship. Actually, that’s one thing that I’m both excited about and worries me.

I mean, back in the days, playing Kingdom Hearts, I spent more time building / improving my Gummy ship than playing the actual game. Many dozens of hours. So I’m kind of excited, and I hope I won’t go too far into that rabbit hole with Starfield.

Also, with a game of this scale, sometimes I end up getting tired of all the sidequests, things to visit on the map, etc. I mean, after 120 hours I kinda need closure. But that’s mainly when all that’s left doing is redundant (think Merlin Trials in Hogwarts Legacy…).

So I hope building and improving the spaceship is fun and that I don’t get tired of playing.

What about you?

Overall I’m very optimistic about the game. I’ve heard some worries about not having manual landing and the size of the explorable area around your landing site, and honestly I’m fine with all that. There will have to be limitations somewhere in the game as a technical matter.

I have some worries about immersion, however. It’s not completely clear from the available footage, but I believe that the cockpit usage animations may get stale really quickly. Far worse in my view is that I’m not sure that the cockpit readouts show real data (they are overlaid with the HUD, but looking at static cockpit displays does feel lazy if that is indeed the case). All of that harms immersion.

Yea, Skyrim is the size of a small town. But we’ve played bigger since it released, and I understand hitting an invisible barrier in a game that insists on large scale exploration would be particularly frustrating.
