I like watching bestdressed and I think I like her style, but sometimes she says something is “vintage”. Similarly, Nicole Rafiee sometimes mentions vintage home decor items (not fashion, but still). And I can’t identify what is so vintage about these things.

What do you consider to be “vintage” women’s clothing? If you’re going to say “It depends”, then what does it depend on?

What are some examples of pre-70s clothes?

sorry, i meant pre 1980s. 1970s are those funny colours like mustard yellow, bell bottom pants. 1960s are brightly coloured/tie dyed clothes and go go boots. 1950s are the big dresses and a line or circle skirts. 1940s are the military style jackets.

Would people really go out shopping or whatever with a circle skirt? Tie-dye and bright colors I could see as a statement, but big dresses just seem inconvenient.

I’ll look up go go boots and military jackets in women’s fashion online…

I didn’t know go go boots were called that, nor that they were vintage. What about them is vintage? Is it because they’re big and blocky colored?

go go boots were introduced in the 1960s. a go go boot that was originally made in the 1960s which you may have found in a thrift store somewhere would be considered vintage.

a modern style go go boot which you might find in a retailer would not be vintage.
