The demand for oil is still going to remain as long as people are driving cars, powering their homes via grids using nonrenewables, etc. Suing big oil is only ever going to be a necessary fee they’ll be willing to pay and is never going to solve anything. We need more people installing solar panels, pushing for public transit, getting rid of their ICE vehicles or driving less, consuming less meat, etc. People deserve their fair share of the blame. Realistically, I don’t see that happening either and just try not to think about the fact that I’ve lost hope for humanity.
Most of BC is powered via hydro so we don’t really rely on oil for that part. The car party is huge though, we need to start pushing for more transit infrastructure. Hopefully the legislation changes coming in fall will tackle this somewhat.
I live on the island right beside the e&n rail yet I have to drive 50 minutes to my work everyday, where the building is a 4 minute walk from the e&n rail.
