I mean this was exactly the expected finish to the match, but the match itself was fire.
Maybe they should have broken up the submission a bit quicker to make it look more believable that Punk wasn’t passed out by that time, but other than that I am really satisfied with this match!
The setup for the struggle was great. It wasn’t your predictable hold everybody back. They actually had to work to hold everybody back and the visual of FTR struggling to get into the ring was way better than BCG just circling Joe to ward off FTR. Overall it was a great first episode. #AEW has been on fire this week. This is their summer if Forbidden Door blows the roof off the building.
