It’s a boxing anime/manga that stays somewhat true to the sport, fulfills everything on the list, and avoids the standard “chosen one” trope. Everything Ippo gets he works for, and while there are some questionable matches, the story is pretty damn good.
The manga is also still going, decades later. If Madhouse decided to pick HNI up again it’ll probably be 500+ episodes to get to today, so plenty of content.

I loved the anime, but he was 16 in the first season and they made sure you knew he’s hung like a horse.
