It’s actually “One bad apple spoils the bunch”, so it’s very accurate.
I’m embarrassed to admit that I learned the line from The Osmonds but Google tells me they got it wrong.
“One bad apple spoils the bunch” is better and truer, whether apples or cops.
Apples release ethylene as they rot, which accelerates the ripening and rotting of other apples.
As do police officers, so it fits perfectly.
