    I’ll happily trade you
    -Signed a Canadian.

EDIT: Just looked at some local temps… Isn’t it like 15C in most places there? The lowest I see is ~9C. I understand Australia is a large place, but I don’t see many cold temps. Sorry if I sound rude, I don’t mean to, just curious.

EDIT EDIT: How hot does it usually get there?

In summer if it reaches 34 that’s hot enough that people might complain, but it’s certainly not major newsworthy.

You’re right though, that our winter is a lot warmer than yours. As others have noted though, we’re not set up for it. I’ve heard from (Nordic) Europeans and Canadians who have said that the day-to-day experience of winter is actually worse here than in their homeland, because of a lack of good insulation and household heating in most homes.

      its all relative.

i’ve spent time in colder climates but you don’t notice it as much because the houses are designed for the colder weather. the houses in australia typically are not designed for colder weather since it doesn’t get awfully cold for much of the year… so when it’s cold, you definitely notice it here.

for example I am sitting in my house with thick socks, track pants, shirt and hoodie on. the house is closed up, but as per my other comment I have no proper shielding from the elements. and its 21°C so its not even deemed as cold but in the shade where my home office is, its doesn’t warm up.

when I was in the UK, I would walk around the house in just boxers during the dead of winter when it was minus degrees outside.

edit: here’s some brisbane weather stats for you to mull over:

That’s fair. 21C is ideal temp for me, although I prefer colder for mostly the reasons some people mentioned below. You can dress up for winter… harder to strip down for the heat. There’s only so much that can come off before the police are called and you’re arrested :P

And I didn’t realize that the houses aren’t really made for the cold temps. Makes sense when you mention it though. Thanks for the answer, and sorry again if I came off as rude!

100% with you, prefer the cooler months for sure! the only downside is it makes it difficult to enjoy our beautiful beaches :) and you can only get arrested if they can catch you… haha

and definitely didn’t come off as rude! always happy to share details about how beautiful city that is Brisbane :)

            beautiful city that is Brisbane

I have a cousin down that way, I might see if I can visit him one day and experience it.

I would say come visit the beautiful city of Winnipeg,… but 1: It’s not beautiful, and 2: no one wants to be in Winnipeg, not even Winnipeggers.

5° C here in Melbourne at the moment. As a chronic insomniac, I have been known to sometimes go walking around the suburb when I can’t sleep. Not tonight.

Lowest is 9C you’re right, would it be crazy for you to hear that inside is also 9C and potentially lower in some places?
