While all eyes are on Bioware’s upcoming Dragon Age sequel, Dreadwolf, industry insiders have heard rumors that Mass Effect 4 (or 5) won’t be open world.

It’s not that they’re continuing Cmd Shepard’s story. They’re just using the (awesome) universe they created.

Personally, I’d love to have a sequel for the Andromeda arch.

Exactly, the world they built was fantastic. ME1-3 had a great story but why waste the world that was created? It’s such a well fleshed out universe and deserves more stories/games built from it.

I agree. They shouldn’t have tried to milk the Mass Effect IP by releasing Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3, and we should have stopped after the original Mass Effect /s. We can only know if a game is good after it’s done, so I’ll reserve judgment until we see what they’ve made.

I love the lore, the technology, the cultures, the species and such, I think if it’s rehashing Shep and redoing the same stuff then I’d agree with you but the universe is so well crafted that I’d love more stories there.

I actually really liked what Andromeda done, they couldn’t compete with the Galaxy badass so they made it more explorer like. Typical EA to expect massive return on a game not given nearly enough backing as tho original

You say that like Mega Man X3 isn’t objectively better than Mega Man 4. What matters more is the value of the thing being made of its own merit, regardless of what came before. There are however sad cases where a game only exists because of what came before, for financial reasons (looking at you, Madden). Nothing of value there, except perhaps to shareholders.
