Hello, I am getting estimates for updating the heating/cooling in my owner occupied 2 unit home. New York is offering incentives for switching away from natural gas so I’m hoping to get this done before winter. Each unit is about 1000 sq ft. Do these prices look about right? I have no knowledge about any of this, just want to make sure I’m not being taken for a ride. Thanks!

I’d get two more quotes - that would determine the validity.

My gut, and 25 years of commercial construction experience tells me that each line item is about 5-10% more expensive than it should be. However, my gut, and 26 years of commercial construction experience also tells me that no two jobs are the same… and there could be factors I’m not aware of.

I can tell you that your items are all necessary, and the overall system size is correct-ish for climate zone 5.

Same thought here. The price looks just slightly on the high side. My thought was just depending on where exactly in New York they were could account for that price hike. Some parts of new york have a pretty high cost of living so the labor prices are going to be that much higher.
