So I picked up a iiyama ProLite b2409HDS monitor the other day (out of my apartment’s bin room, someone was moving out I think) and it’s supposedly 1080p but looks horrendous!

I don’t know how to show it well and I think taking a screenshot isn’t the best idea since that’s maybe just down to 1080p looking worse than the built in screen on a MacBook Pro but I’ve included those pics anyway alongside some photos I took of the differing screens.

EDIT: I used it for my switch and it looks perfectly good. I’m very confused!

Yeah I’d followed a guide online for calibration which I think made it worse. I’ve played around more now and it looks best when it’s mirroring my built in screen but doesn’t look great when it’s in extended display mode. I’ll probably stick the switch on it and see how it looks.

weird :D I assume you have checked in settings that ilyama has 1920x1080 resolution. The screenshot shows 4k in both cases

Yes I downloaded like 2 resolution apps for further trying after trying all the resolutions available on my Mac 😂. Maybe a 2010ish monitor is just too old to match a 2020ish laptop?

I’ve just stuck my switch on it and it looks perfectly fine! Looks better on that 24in 1080p than on my 27in 1440p monitor
