I’ve been stressing about meeting up with this executive for a mentoring session at a bar he proposed. Supposedly really great atmosphere, huge selection of whiskey, and amazing cocktails for weeks. Not very sober friendly, but I cold called him to meet up and didn’t wanna open with “I’m sober, can we try some place else?”
I just this morning realized I can go back to my classic order of seltzer and lime. Maybe next time we get coffee. IWNDWYT
Fuck that’s rough. Since I’m still new at this whole actively choosing not to drink thing, I haven’t been brave enough to try anywhere that serves alcohol. I know it’ll happen eventually, I can’t avoid them forever, so I’m really liking the idea of having a “back pocket drink” where you don’t even tempt yourself by looking over a cocktail menu.Thats a great idea, and you’re the second person I’ve seen espousing that advice.
Seltzer and lime is hella refreshing, looks like a bar drink, and won’t draw unwanted attention. You got this! Think about how much more value you’re going to get out of this mentoring session when you’re clear headed and in control. It’s pretty exciting! 🙌

Good bartenders like the challenge of making a tasty mocktail! I like something based around ginger beer and let them handle the rest. 😁

Just ordered one of the cocktails w/o bourbon. Too easy. Half the price and it tasted fancier than the seltzers I’ve been pounding. Win win.
