    Technically, no. Garek traded for 82 liters of biomemetic gel, which he then likely used to create organic explosives that the Romulans wouldn’t be able to detect.

      Holy shit! I always thought it was weird that Bashir specifically cautioned of its use for producing weapons or explosives as opposed to for genetic engineering (i.e. Do you want Khan? Because that’s how you get Khan!).

      You’re blowing my mind right now… I never made that connection and sheepishly assumed he actually went to obtain a fake rod with the gel, though well aware it wouldn’t pass the test (and the rest of his plan in mind)

        No, he had a genuine optolythic data rod. It was the holosuite recreation that he didn’t have faith in. He simply lied about who he got the data rod from in order to obtain the biomemetic gel.
