I am theoretically switching over from Reddit to Lemmy. Finding myself spending more time on Lemmy than on Reddit. Maybe it’s because I am limited to using the desktop and can’t aimlessly browse Reddit on my iPhone. Of late, the only subreddits I cared for were on sports and their matchday threads and r/watches. I found myself aimlessly browsing through r/AskReddit and asking and answering pointless questions.
I’ve only been back to Reddit a few times since, it was old.reddit via the browser for some niche communities that don’t exist on Lemmy. Otherwise I’m making do with the difference in content - I refuse to use that monstrosity they call the official Reddit app.
Using Jerboa for Lemmy, coming from a RIF user it has its flaws but it’s a nice enough experience. Decentralised communities really need something to unify the experience in a way that people actually understand (or don’t need to understand), so there’s a long way to go if Reddit are to be toppled.
