This sub is for people who want to challenge themselves and try new things. Viewers should be celebrating that, not judging the results. You don’t have to up vote everything, but please do not down vote people’s submissions. Thank you.

Yeah, that was gonna be my suggestion. Probably way easier than expecting people to have respect for anything.

Is it possible to migrate a community?

also, reddthat was mentioned, but another downvote disabled instance I know of is lemmy.one. There’s also beehaw.org, but they keep considering total defederation or moving to something other than lemmy, so maybe not the best choice at the moment.

Only bringing it up because I think all three do not have open registration now, only signups by approval, so nothing is guaranteed. Though you probably have a good chance on reddthat with why you’re moving over.

There are some other instances as well, and if you look about hard enough there’s a github (?) page that has a table with all the instances and their policies, including a column for whether downvotes are enabled.

I don’t think there are tools for community migration yet. You’d have to make the new community, and then either duplicate posts by manually copying the content over the hard way, or make new posts linking to the old ones, and if possible make it so only mods can post to the old community, with a pinned post directing everyone to the new instance community. Fortunately there’s not a ton of posts yet so either option isn’t too bad.
