i’m pretty new to the game, any advice for farming, basebuilding, any order in which you normally do things?
minus-square@lanolinoillinkEnglish1•2 years ago Get DF Hack and explore its capabilities Heavily use the wiki anytime you don’t understand anything Turn off children doing chores in the labor menu Make crafts all the time with some trash material so dwarves don’t get unhappy Focus on stockpile setup more than you think you should for efficiency and making sure tasks are using certain items The more you trade the quicker you’ll earn a barony and nobles which are a pain if you aren’t ready for them. The caverns are cool but will spawn horrible evil monsters so don’t open them up too early Traps rock Make stone and wood blocks instead of making your dwarves haul massively heavy things around (when building floors and the like) Make/buy tools (wheelbarrows, step ladders, pickaxes, backpacks, etc) Notice the auto mining tools in the steam version for easy mining Read the wiki on steel production and charcoal/fuel management before you try smithing properly Make nice stuff by encrusting furniture with gems or studs Look at why specific dwarves are angry before they go crazy Be careful with visitors that are necromancers or murderers When you start, make sure savagery and the other spooky setting are low for an easy time.
