I am theoretically switching over from Reddit to Lemmy. Finding myself spending more time on Lemmy than on Reddit. Maybe it’s because I am limited to using the desktop and can’t aimlessly browse Reddit on my iPhone. Of late, the only subreddits I cared for were on sports and their matchday threads and r/watches. I found myself aimlessly browsing through r/AskReddit and asking and answering pointless questions.

I already have 10 lemmy accounts and like 2k compounded points in 12 days!! I have ruined my sleep schedule because I stay on Lemmy till like 8 am! I have procrastinated my well paying job to get more hours into this and even developed plug-ins for lemmy when I could’ve been developing shit for my job! Yes, I’ve been using Lemmy more than Reddit. 😭😔

because every instance behaves differently and as an explorer, i like testing how things work in other places, and the different “points of view”. It’s like when you’re looking at a great statue (the Fediverse), but you can stand from any angle, below, behind, on top, in front of the face, and sure, you can see a ton of it, but the perspective is different on each instance.

And besides, every instance has different rules and features. If I wanna say controversial things, I pop into the free speech one. If I wanna watch some tiddies, I pop into the nsfw ones. If I just wanna look at memes and see what’s going on, I pop on lemm.ee or kbin. If I just feel like doing some organic interaction, I pop onto sh.itjust.works and send a few comments & messages and have a good time.

Lol, I’m glad this seems like such a thiving community.

      Thanks, God

Edit: So I just joined minutes ago, and I clicked your profile out of curiosity. I don’t see any points listed. I’m totally for getting rid of the gamification aspects of social media, but is there a way to see someone’s “comment karma” or whatever?

I actually made a script that creates a card when you hover someone and it tells you their points. It seems to be bugged now, tells me my comment score is 14, when it was like 700 a few days ago lol. I have like 600 comments in my main account so i imagine it’s a tiny bit more.
