Story of Domino’s Pizza 🍕 Domino’s Pizza was founded by brothers Tom Monaghan and James Monaghan in 1960 in the city of Ypsilanti, Michigan, acquiring a pizza pizzeria for just $900!! In the early 60’s they wanted to deliver to students of at the university their pizzas, for which they used a very special vehicle, it was a 1959 Volkswagen.
Both brothers were very close and worked together, however for James Monaghan after more of one year, he began to think the business would not succeed and decided to leave the pizzeria to become a postman, his half of the business to his brother, making him the absolute owner, in return for the small Volkswagen.
The wherabouts of the Volkswagen is unknown, but the company claims that thanks to this Volkswagen and the affection that their customers had for it is what the company needed to thrive. There were even letters in the mailbox from their frequent customers asking what had happened with that Volkswagen, why they don’t deliver in the Beetle anymore? The company’s head office ordered to create a replica of it having it as a reminder of what helped make Domino’s pizza what it is today.
$600, and now the CEO doesn’t have one single employee who could save up that much money without supplemental income, even though none of those workers would ever be able to start a business with less than 100x that amount.
