Ukraine damaged one of Russia’s most treasured air-defense system in a drone attack, according to multiple reports.

Using multiple strike drones, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) damaged a Russian S-400 Triumph anti-aircraft system on Wednesday, The Kyiv Post reported on Wednesday, citing an intelligence source.

The SBU source did not elaborate on the extent of damage done, though Reuters reported that the system’s radar was affected.

The attack occurred at night time inside mainland Russia, near the southwestern city of Belgorod, according to Ukrinform and Reuters.

That’s how it feels every headline is when you see Ukrainian victories vs Russian “victories”. I’ve overwhelmingly read about Ukrainian military victories that are hitting legitimate military targets, Ukraine appears to be conducting an actual professional war against the Russian military, while Russia is more conducting an organized terrorist operation against the Ukrainian people. While I’m sure there may be some sort of information warfare at work here as well (terrorist operations are amplified while legitimate Russian military victories are minimized), but that Russia seems to think civilian targets like hospitals and daycares are legitimate in the first place should really be all anybody needs to know about who is in the wrong in this conflict.

Not even talking about the morality of it all though, strategically it just seems like a waste of resources on Russia’s part. They’re using up bombs and ammunition on people and places that aren’t even a threat, and rather than weakening enemy morale, while Ukraine has been very effectively trying to degrade Russia’s ability to attack. Isn’t attacking civilians more liable to strengthen their resolve, rather than demoralize them? I’ve never been in a situation where I was facing daily attacks, but if I knew Country B was launching daily attacks against my home and had killed/wounded/mutilated/raped/pillaged everywhere around me, I sure as shit wouldn’t want to give up the fight.
