    Probably poor placement of the deer jumping at the time of collision. I do know that the damage is typically a lot less from deer.

      Ah shit, looked up the specs, aluminum body parts instead of steel.

          Nope, but clearly deer fuel can melt aluminum beams.

          Crumple zones are in the bumper and is for the occupants I believe. And as for pedestrians and wildlife, you want to deflect them, absorbing it would put more force and damage on them iirc.
