    Dougie really broke the dam with his frivilous use of it.

    Used to be that everyone understood that it was a last resort, to be used in extreme circumstances where there wasnt time for debates and amendments to acheive the common good.

    But what did he use it for? To try and force through back-to-work legislation instead of barganing in good faith with Ontario’s education workers.

    Now you have Legault using it to push through bills 21 & 94, and Scott Moe is using to force through a bill that will endanger transgender kids so he can score points with the bigots in his province.

      Doug Ford has used the notwithstanding clause 3 times! Once to reduce the amount of representatives on Toronto City Council, once to reduce the amount of political ads non-political parties can run (a law union leaders said was designed to silence unions), and once to end a union strike (which makes it seem like the union leaders were right in their accusations).

      There definitely needs to be more blowback from the public when provincial leaders use this clause to force through legislation. I agree that provincial leaders have gotten way too comfortable in using it.
