Insane. Supporters of Palestinians are always getting the hard treatment and condemnations meanwhile supporters of Israel and their occupation of Gaza are never treated the same.

it’s all because of US propaganda. the US media has tricked their readers into thinking that being anti-Israel is being antisemitic, and since 9/11 Americans tend to view Muslims as subhuman. and of course it doesn’t help that the US send tons of military aid to Israel every year

As I recall, the statement said that “Israel bears full responsibility.” I disagree with that. The Israeli government and Hamas together bear full responsibility.

I am also annoyed at the false dichotomy that criticizing one side is equal to fully supporting the other.

ah, but Netanyahu created his own enemy. he funded Hamas to prevent the creation of a Palestinian state, promoting it from a small extremist faction to the dominant force in Palestinian politics

Just because a bad person reportedly funded a terrorist group, doesn’t make them not a terrorist group.

i’m not denying that Hamas is a terrorist group. i think they’re evil too. what i’m saying is that Netanyahu funded them and propelled them to power, putting his own people at risk to further his political goals

          “Israel bears full responsibility.”

Sorry, but… where’s the lie? Israel has borne full responsibility for this since 1948 - there is absolutely nothing Hamas can do that changes that.

Israel hasn’t occupied Gaza for around 18 years, although it sounds like that might soon change. Gaza is blockaded. I agree with the sentiment though, this is a ridiculous and petty stunt.

Occupation isn’t necessary if your government controls all traffic in and out, water, power, and food.

It doesn’t. They also share a border with Egypt. Have they tried to make good diplomatic relations with them?

You mean the Egypt being ruled by a US-backed and funded dictatorship? That the Egypt we’re talking about?

Egypt has a unicameral parliament. With elections. They hold the headquarters of the Arab league. Are on good terms within the Arab league. And if any government was backing the current one it was the UAE. I probably mean that one.

The Apartheid-regime didn’t “occupy” the Bantustans, either.

The Israeli settlers were removed back then but that doesn’t mean it’s not occupied. That’s the official position of the state of Israel but it’s contested by many international organizations.
