Depending on the story arc, she does eventually fall in love with him and they get married. If the comic strips are the only thing that you consider canon, then no. Nothing more than a few dates.
I have a vague memory of Liz showing up somewhere in Garfield’s 9 Lives, but I no longer have a copy of that and I only lightly considered it canon.
She’s only there because fans wanted Jon to be less lonely. Fairly sure it didn’t work 😅
