That wording is emotional manipulation, they are as recognised as any other Australian citizen

Edit: do you guys know the difference between “recognised” and “disadvantaged”? Because you’re arguing against a point that I didn’t make

No, it’s not, native ppl don’t live the same way as westerns, not acknowledging this is forcing them to live the way of colonizers. When you talk about sociological equality you are not talking about treating everyone the same, but respecting the differences, and this referendum is just forcing the colonizer way of living over the colonized without any dialogue, because creating the body would not mean actually a change, but even this is denied.

they are as recognised as any other Australian citizen

It’s not what it seems, when you have a 17.5x more chance to the incarcerated only because where you were born, independently of why, it’s clear that you is not like any other and there is a big gap between groups of power.

just forcing the colonizer way of living over the colonized without any dialogue,

People are welcome to live without permanent shelter, running water or modern medicine but I doubt they’ll take that option.

It’s much more than where you were born, it’s historical abuse and trauma from genocide so severe that communities simply don’t function.

And so? What is your point here?

native ppl don’t live the same way as westerns

They do as soon as they’re given the option.

            What is your point here?

My point is that you’re implying ATSI people would willingly go back to traditional hunter gatherer societies and forgo the so called “westerns” lifestyle.

Take a look at every single culture on the planet that isn’t an uncontacted tribe. They literally all want to live like “westerns” as you put it, and frankly who wouldn’t.

Wtf dude, you just don’t know what you are talking about. Implying that “if they want live their traditions they should not use medicine”, also

A lot of indigenous ppl around the world want to live in this way, you have tons of documentaries showing that. If tried to learn about the topic or talk with native ppl you would know that.

you are just a racist colonizer implying your values to others.

And they’re welcome to, but if they won’t participate then they shouldn’t reap the rewards of an advanced industrial society.
