In my experience most middle class folks buy new cars, for some reason. A brand new EV that isn’t a Tesla is comparable to gas counterparts. For example, a brand new Chevy Bolt starts at $26,500 minus an EV tax credit of $7500. The Chevy Trax is similar in size and features and starts at $20,400. I think we’ll continue to see prices on EVs drop til they’re identical to gas powered cars within a few years.
