At least one Russian milblogger appears to have accepted Russia’s attempt to take the town is over, insisting the Kremlin had never promised it would capture it in the first place.

    If he was smart, he would declare success in Ukraine and then justify leaving with, “mission accomplished, no more bad guys”.
