I feel like computers have gotten 1000x more powerful and still somehow slower and more annoying to use in the last 40 years.
the good old commodore 64 booted in 2 seconds. as soon as it was up, you could start writing commands; no login, no updates, no popups…
The hardware is much, much faster. It’s just Windows that is slower, from all the bits that load on startup.
sure, it is faster, but every OS loads a tonne more stuff - not just windows. same with most applications and websites, almost everything is extremely bloated these days.
